JERKISH TO THE MAX
I know I've been away from the blog and Twitter for the past couple days (if you only knew what I had to go through, you'd understand)
But I figure I'd come back strong with something that should fill you with anger and disgust and give you another target on the Penguins to harass beside Sidney Crosby.
So here goes:
Before each game at Wachovia Center, the Flyers put together a little pregame video to get the fans charged up for the team's entrance onto the ice.
In the special playoff video, the Flyers put up a title that they have received from several publications - the most intimidating fans in the NHL.
Well, Penguins center Max Talbot was asked if in fact that was true. Here's what he said:
“They call themselves that? That’s kind of pretentious. They try to be intimidating, obviously. They dress in orange T-shirts and scream a lot. Does that make the Flyers a better team? I don’t think so… it’s the same team on the ice in Pittsburgh or here in Philly.”
Wow.
Something tells me the Flyers' will have a little response back to that come game time tomorrow.
But in the meantime, tell your friends. Spread the word. I want to hear him booed unmercifully every time he touches the puck tomorrow night.
Then I'll know you all did your job as true fans.

And it wasn't Philly fans who gave them the most intimidating tag, it was NHL players. Max must not have voted.
yeah, what Bo said...i'm pretty sure that was voted on by the players themselves.
Ironically, the same survey that asked who the biggest cry baby was in the NHL: Sid.
i'll be at game 4 tonight; i'm beyond excited to lose my voice.
Booing Maxine everytime he touched the puck would be what about a total of 2 minutes of game time.
True... but it would be an interesting diversion to the 20 minutes of ice time spent booing Crosby, no?
Anthony,
did you notice in game 3, when Timonen had his stick slashed into 2 pieces in the flyers corner and there was no call?
i've never seen Kimmo so mad/vocal/animate towards a ref after the play.
has anyone brought that up nationally or from the Flyers side?
i only ask because it was the same situation that led the Flyers demise in game 2.
as a player myself, these one piece sticks break like nothing sometimes. that rule NEEDS to be changed for sure.
wow.
F you.
talbot is amazing. so is the whole Penguins team.
and he's right. Why would you call yourselves something bad?!
honestly - flyers fan bug the shit out of me.
like come on, instead of chanting "crosby sucks" for half the game, why don't you root on your own team and not put the other ones down (and crosby doesn't suck. i'm pretty sure your team didn't have a single guy in the top 10 of point scorers, let alone 2)
so shut it.
look at you, mr. penguins fan. hipocracy at it's finest. wasting your time on a philly beat writer blog. let me make that clear: PHILLY beat writer.
you're wasting your time here.
if you knew anything about hockey, or sports for that matter: you would know that homefield advantage is, indeed, the crowd. it's called intimidation. i'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to bear the pressure of 20k people screaming against you. again: this was voted on by the players themselves.
lastly, we don't need 2 guys in the top 10 in scoring. we have 6 guys with 20+ goals. any smart GM, coach, fan base would prefer parody over 2 guys in the top 10.
so, shut your mouth, go back to pittsburg, and take your potty mouth 4th grade language that you need to intimate people with, back to pittsburg with you.
Why are Flyers fans always confusing "tough" with "jealous"?
