Enjoy the third period!

All right folks, time to do some real work here at MSG... I'll be signing out of the blog for the remainder of the game.

Enjoy the final 20 minutes and be sure to check out www.delcotimes for full coverage of the game tomorrow.

Sports editor Rob Parent is chipping in with the game story and a Flyers scoop and I'll have a Simon Gagne column for your reading pleasure.

Until next time, thanks for stopping in the room.

FLYERS SCORE AGAIN!!!

Scott Hartnell scores a fluke goal when his centering pass to no one in particular hits Lundqvist's skate and trickles into the net.

Steve Downie made a nice play to hustle to a loose puck to get it to Hartnell, but this one definitely goes under the luck category....

3-2 Flyers.

FLYERS score... time game.....

Heck of a hustle play by Jim Dowd.

First he beats out the icing then he makes a fantastic no-look pass from behind the net through Lundqvist's legs to a hard-charging Stefan Ruzicka who picked up his first goal of the season beating Lundqvist to the five-hole.

The big mo is clearly in the Flyers favor now.

FLYERS score!

Just what the doctor ordered....

Mike Knuble deflects a Mike Richards shot off of Henrik Lundqvist's glove during the two-man advantage to make it 2-1.

It was Knuble's 12th goal of the season, 10th on the power play.

Down two but a big chance.....

With a 5-on-3 power play for 1:36 to start the second period is a golden opportunity for the Flyers to cut the Rangers lead in half.

If they fail, momentum will squarely be back in the Rangers corner.

Big spot in the game for sure.

2-0 Rangers

Obviously the lucky horseshoe was in Ryan Hollweg's locker tonight.

He scored his second goal of the game (and second of the season...ugh) on a shot that deflected off of Jason Smith's nose and past Niittymaki.

Niitty actually made the initial save, but couldn't stop the rebound off his teammate's face.

Yikes... karma is not in the Flyers favor at the moment.

1-0 RANGERS

Simon Gagne let Ryan Hollweg go and he jammed a rebound past Antero Niittymaki to make it 1-0 Rangers.

Three mistakes on the play:

First, Jason Smith misses Dan Girardi, then Randy Jones covers the wrong guy, leaving his side of the net open, followed by Gagne losing track of Hollweg.

It was Hollweg's first goal of the season. Yes, it's that bad.

DELAY OF GAME?

Perhaps the dumbest penalty in hockey is the delay of game for flipping the puck over the glass.

It is hardly ever intentional.

Two minutes is too harsh for such an indiscretion.

How about the same penalty as icing the puck... the same five guys have to stay on the ice and a defensive zone faceoff?

That'd be better.

LIVE BLOG from Madison Square Garden !!!

Hey all... welcome to my new blog here on DelcoTimes.com.

I can promise that it'll be fun and exciting and we'll talk a lot of hockey along the way, but I'll also be rambling about other topics as well, so feel free to comment about anything I say, and I'll try to
shout back at you as soon as I can.

First thing's first....

MSG is the best building in America to watch hockey... bar none! I know everyone talks about the Wachovia Center being the most intimidating, and it might be, but MSG is far more intimate an the New York crowd is great.

It really gets you into the game, especially from our press box seats about 15 feet to the left and 20 feet above Antero Niittymaki's head!

Speaking of Niitty, I'm in favor of him starting tonight. He's been really good lately and I think Stevens is making a bold, yet correct choice in riding the hot goalie.

However, we are only minutes away from finding out if he is correct!

By the way, Simon Gagne, Jason Smith and Sami Kapanen are all back. Scottie Upshall remains out.

See you in a few minutes!
