FLYERS TO SIGN TOLLEFSEN?

Hey all... hope you are enjoying your summer.

I know I've been away for awhile, but I got some small Flyers news tonight.

I learned earlier tonight that defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen will be in town Sunday for a physical and if he passes will be signed by the Flyers to a contract.

I was also told by a good team source that Tollefsen would be part of the NHL plans, and not as a defenseman for the Phantoms.

It's an interesting move, because the Flyers are also looking at veteran players like Petr Sykora and Miroslav Satan as possible additions to the roster and would have to clear some cap space before signing either one.

In order to do that, a defenseman could be on the move. If Tollefsen is brought in, will this FINALLY mark the end of the Randy Jones experiment?

That would create the room necessary for a veteran forward, especially since they'd be saving about $1.5 million going from Jones to Tollefsen.

But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Tollefsen has to pass the physical first, but according to someone I spoke to in Columbus, he was deemed healthy by the Cleveland clinic after a January knee injury ended his season.

Stay tuned.
